Callophone

The Callophone iHorn is made from a Callophone Company of America, Callophone Radio Horn made in 1924.  It was name in New York City.   It is large and dynamic.  While not much is known about the Callophone Company of America, they were largely a manufacturer of communications equipment for sale to the armed forces, which included the throat voice transmitter which mounted in the straps of pilots’ helmets.  Presumably, this was considered hands free communication.  When World War I came to an end, there was commercial use for the Callophone communications equipment which was used in headquarters of the American Meat and Supply Company where salesman communicated with the backroom through a callophone system.  Regardless, it is large and angular, a signature piece in anyone’s home.
