The Master Voice iHorn is a beautifully coiled His Master’s Voice Model 102D portable gramophone horn. It was made in 1931 by the English Company his Master’s Voice. This model was their longest running and most popular portable gramophone selling into the 1960’s.
His Master's Voice (HMV) was the name of a major British record label created in 1901 by The Gramophone Co. Ltd. The phrase was coined in the late 1890s as the title of a painting depicting a terrier-mix dog named Nipper listening to a wind-up disc gramophone and tilting his head. In the original, unmodified 1898 painting, the dog was listening to a cylinder phonograph. The painting was also a famous trademark and logo of the Victor Talking Machine Company, later known as RCA Victor. In the 1970s, the statue of the dog and gramophone, His Master's Voice, were cloaked in bronze and was awarded by the record company (EMI) to artists or music producers or composers as a music award and often only after selling more than 100,000 recordings.
The Master Voice iHorn is one of the few ever made from a gramophone horn. It is impeccable and marvelous, historic and artistic. So curl up, get yourself a little nipper of your favorite libation, and listen to the sweet sounds of his Master’s Voice.
