The Crystal

The Crystal iHorn is made from a  vintage Austrian crystal detector radio, the exact date of which is unknown.  However, a crystal detector is an obsolete electronic componest used in some early 20^th Century radio receivers.  So the probable date of manufacture was the early 1900s.  In fact, Bose first patented the crystal detector in 1901.  They were considered antiquated and obsolete by the early 1930’s when they were replaced by the semiconductor.  The Crystal is a throw back to a time when the radio brought the world of the news.
