The Lear Jet iHORN is made from a Lear Jet 8 track player, coupled with a fox hunting horn, and garnished with Linda Rondstadt’s Greatest hits. Add a book of matches and you are ready to rock’n’roll!
8-track tapes were created in 1964 by a consortium led by Bill Lear of Lear Jet Corporation, along with Ampex, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Motorola, and RCA Victor Records (RCA). They were extremely popular in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Japan, but relatively unknown to the rest of the world. In September 1965, Ford Motor Company introduced factory-installed and dealer-installed eight-track tape players on the 1966 Mustang, Thunderbird and Lincoln. It was considered convenient and portable. However, size matters and by the early 1970’s, cassette tapes replaced the 8 track which was undersized out of the market.
The Lear Jet was part of the hippie generation and literally revolutionized the ability to play on demand popular music wherever you found yourself. Whether in your car, boom boxing at the beach, or wherever the wind took you, The Lear Jet allowed you to get and keep your groove on. However, in this case, the get and groove occurred in your private jet!
