The Standard iHorn is made from a Standard Metal Manufacturing Co. horn speaker made in 1924. Standard Metal only made two horn speakers, and this was considered its largest model. Standard Metal Manufacturing Co. was located in Newark, New Jersey, which was actually a sheet metal manufacturing company, specializing in sheet metal fabrication. The Standard represents the diversity of American business. To survive, diversity allowed for companies to pivot as the need for change arose, depending on the times and economic realities of the day. The same remains as true today as it did in 1924. The Standard is rare because it was made by a company to show its abilities, not for mass production. It was limited in quantity when made and even more limited today. The Standard reminds us all to reach, and that when we are outside our comfort zone, what we grasp is usually unexpected.
