The Your Service iHORN is a Western Electric telephone which was probably manufactured in 1920s when rotary dial phones were widely in use. But this piece is unique because of its story as it relates to one man’s military service. The plaque honors C.H. Cain who served in the Eighth United States Army, Signal Section, presumably in 1965 and 1966. The Eighth United States Army is in Korea. Going away gifts are tradition with the Eighth Army and this piece was probably made by a local. The characters in the dial are Chinese, not Korean. So while antique telephones are highly collected and prized, this particular piece is even moreso because it honors the service of one man. To C.H. Cain and all those who serve to protect freedom and democracy, thank you for Your Service
